Rylee Turns One 8/16/11

Rylee celebrated her first birthday already!! Crazy how she's one now and Reese is on her way to four in a couple weeks.

On Rylee's birthday, we looked through photos on the computer from when Reese was turning one. It was amazing to compare the differences between these two at one. Reese had lots of curly brown hair and Rylee hardly has any hair, but it's blonde and straight. They have different personalities also.

Rylee is our little cuddle bug. I love that she loves to be held and lay her head on your shoulder for long periods at a time. She still sleeps in our bed, which I don't think I can break. I just love sleeping next to this sweet little cuddle bug, and I know daddy does too. Rylee is so super smiley, all the time. She is such a calm, happy baby. She loves to carry things around, like baskets that are as big as she is. She also loves to put things in things. For instance, she'll find a little cup and place anything that'll fit in it. Then she'll walk around with it, like she's showing it off. Rylee also loves to put clothes on her head. It's especially fun to see her go through Daddy's underwear drawer and place underwear on her head. Sometimes she can see through an opening in the underwear and sometimes she can't, but regardless of whether she can see or not, she likes to walk around like that. It makes us all laugh so hard. She does this almost everyday too. She'll use blankets to put over her head, towels, shirts; she'll use any piece of fabric she can find. Lately she's been carrying around Reese's little baby. It's almost as big as she is but she doesn't mind that. Rylee will eat just about anything, as long as it's skin free. For instance, blueberries, she loves them but I have to peel the skin around them off or she'll spit them out. Same for grapes and cherries. She eats a lot of yogurt and cinnamon raisin toast.

We started weaning her to whole milk, but she's not a fan yet. I have to combine half formula with half milk until we get her used to it. Rylee has 7 teeth and knows a couple of words. Her vocabulary is: boo (buuh), hi (i), momma, dadda and that's about it. Her big sister takes toys out of her hand often, and that makes her so upset. She'll usually scream in sadness and disappointment for a moment and then she's okay. Rylee loves to be chased and gets so excited. She doesn't look back and she tries to walk as fast as she can. She's a pretty fast walker, since she's been walking since 10 months. She does love playing with her sister and we love to watch. It's so sweet to see sisters play together like they do. I pray they have the best friendship as they grow up and protect each other and love each other unconditionally.

July 24, 2012

Reese and Rylee have their last day of vacation bible camp tomorrow at their little pre-school. This camp has offered great activities and free time for myself. However, not to complain, but 10a-1p is just enough time to run an errand or two. It's almost a tease.

Anyways, so Reese is approaching five, and she has been a doll for the most part. Very helpful with Rylee, polite and uses her manners well, very playful and sweet, and starting to become very inquisitive. She loves to tumble in the living room, attempting to do cartwheels and handstands. She's always saying "watch this mommy" right before she performs a trick, and then we'll hear Rylee right after her saying "watch dis, watch dis" over and over, and then she'll do a little summersault.
Reese started sleeping in our room in the toddler bed on the side of our bed about a month ago.....I'm not sure how this got started but I think we made a mistake. She no longer wants to sleep in her room, and I don't blame her. Why would she? Rylee is still sleeping in our BED and she's all alone upstairs by herself. So, I've decided I'm not going to fret about it. My babies are only babies once and I know before I know it, they'll be bigger and not want to sleep anywhere near mommy and daddy.

Reese's best friend is Ella, and Rylee's best friend is Mya (Ella's little sister). And then I adore their mommy, Mrs. Cassie! They are just the sweetest. We enjoy our playdates with them and try to have them often.

We've been trying to keep busy this summer with activities and the Glen Eagles Country Club pool. It's a treat to spend our days up there and so blessed to be members this year. We've met a lot of great friends there and I can't wait to start tennis in the Fall. :)

I'm trying to teach Rylee how to sing the Happy Birthday song........since Reese could sing it on her 2nd birthday. It's going okay, but not as good as I expected.

When I was just looking at Reese's old blog posts, I was so surprised to see that Reese used to say "oh my goodness" just like Rylee does. Even around the same age. I think Rylee started saying it a little younger, but it's so awesome to see all the cute things they've done/do and compare. Very special. I want to cherish every second of every day, because these moments, well, they're fleeting. And the older I get too, the more it's real to me.

Another Attempt to Pick Blogging Back Up 7/24/12

I've decided to start blogging again! So here goes! :) I find myself looking back at our blog to recall milestones from Reese so I can compare with Rylee, and I LOVE that this blog has great details from the past that really refresh my memory to the fullest! On the same token, this also saddens me that I didn't blog when Rylee was younger to have such great detailed memories of her past one, almost two, years of life. BUT, it's never too late to start, right? Where to begin.....Rylee is 22 months and so full of life as all 22 month-year-olds are. :) She has the sweetest personality, and loves to give hugs! And kisses too! She gets very upset if you tell her no or not to do something. She'll react in one of two ways: a)be still and slowly break down and cry, almost as is she has to think about what her reaction is going to be first b)run to a separate room, or corner, or behind something (like daddy's hanging clothes in his closet) where she will pout and cry and when you try to console her, she'll tell you "no" so she can pout and be by herself. Sometimes this is very sad aNd dramatic and sometimes it's quite comical. I love when rylee can't wait to have something, like a vitamin and she jumps up and down real fast with a smile on her face and sometimes she says 'yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah' with such excitement. We go to the gym almost every day and Rylee has really grown to like one of the workers in the childcare there, named Mena. It's sweet to see her say 'hi & bye Mena', like such a big girl! One of rylees favorite things to do at the gym is 'cowing piture' aka coloring pictures. She always has a beautifully scribbled on picture for me when I arrive to pick her up. This has turned into a ritual almost, since we literally can not leave the gym if she hasn't forked over a picture for me. She got this habit from sweet big sister Reese, since she too almost always has a beautifully colored picture for me to take home as well. You should see my gym bag! I could make one enormous coloring book with all the great pictures that are in it. Sometimes I think the only reason I have a gym bag is for pictures! So summer has arrived and we look forward to spending our days swimming at the pool. Our pool of choice this year and every year there after is the country club pool. We can't wait to check out all the new fun stuff they added! The pool opens today actually! Woohoo!

Girls Update 6/23/11

Rylee just turned 10 months last week; so hard to believe. She is still the sweetest, happiest, smileyest (I know, not a word) baby you've ever seen. She just melts our heart. She is crawling so fast these days, and what's funny is, she'll crawl and stand up the second she reaches her destination. She's been standing up a lot and I can't help but think she'll be taking her first steps any day now. She literally stands at least every 20 seconds. She's been babbling a lot more and she has also started screaming in a high pitch voice to get your attention. This usually makes me and Reese laugh, so once she sees us laughing, she'll throw us a big smile and scream again. It turns in to a big game. She's been saying Dadda a lot more lately instead of mamma. Her diet is almost entirely table/finger foods these days. I can't pick out anything she likes or dislikes, because it seems like one day she'll eat one thing and the next she'll want something new. We go to the spray park often, as that is still one of our favorite places to cool off in this 100+ degree weather.

Reese still likes to be called sweetheart. I just realized that the reason for this is because I call Rylee sweetheart and sweet baby all the time. I just didn't realize it. So, I've tried to cut that out and call Rylee by her name more often. It broke my heart when I realized that's what was behind her new name.

Reese started going under the water all by herself. I think just watching other kids at the pool helped give her confidence because she so badly wanted to swim like them. She's swimming unbelievably well on her own and we are so proud. She's also been going in spurts a couple weeks at a time, where she'll be the sweetest little angel in the world, and then she'll have crabby Gabby spouts a couple weeks later.

In other news, we are anxiously awaiting closing date so we can move in to our new house, July 6. It was moved from June 20 so it's been hard to be patient.

Tea Party 6/7/11

This morning, before Daddy headed to Oklahoma for a fun day of golf (aka work trip :)), Reese decided it would be a great idea to have a tea party. I decided it would be a great idea to have a tea party in our backyard for breakfast! What a great idea it was! Reese served us lemon flavored water out of her plastic tea cup set, while we ate freshly made pancakes and eggs for breakfast. The weather was about a cool 85 degrees and felt great! Just trying to soak up the beauty of our house until we make the transition to Plano and the new house. Very excited about that, but I know I'll have some mixed emotions when reality sets in and we are in the actual moving process. :/

New Dedication 6/6/11

I am going to dedicate myself back to blogging. The other day, I was scrolling through old blog posts with such excitement over all of the recorded memories. Blogging is journalling and such a great way to remember all of the precious captured moments!! What was I thinking when I thought I didn't have time for it? This is one thing I must make time for.

Times are extremely and overwhelmingly busy right now. We are still in the process of selling our current home, and have complete faith that it will sell in God's perfect timing; so no worries!! The stressful part is trying to keep this house clean with two precious little babies who like to get in to everything, and rightfully so. I'm starting to feel like a meanie, constantly saying the word "NO"! "NO, don't get the paint out. I just cleaned the house."! Booooo! That's no way to live, especially for a toddler. I'm determined to let loose on the clean and orderly house 24-7. It's just not practical or possible, and quite mean actually! My poor family........

The exciting news is that we have been blessed with an amazing new house!! We will be moving soon, so I'm glad that I won't have to worry about "house showings" anymore. YAY! That's going to be awesome!! My precious family won't have to worry about helping me keep everything put up. Our house is perfectly located for our family. It's a lot closer to Zack's building in Addison and it's in Plano by all of the places I love to go: Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack, The Tom Muehlenbeck Center, The Parr Library, etc. It's been a roller coaster ride trying to buy this house, but it'll be well worth. No doubt!

Reese just completed her first year of preschool at Friends in Christ preschool. She loved her teachers and classmates. I was tearful when I dropped her off the very first day, and I was tearful when I picked her up the very last day. Our baby girl is growing up so fast. It is amazing to see her as a little student, and so unbelievable at the same time. Now, we are in the process of finding a new preschool closer to our new home for her to attend. Reese's vocabulary is blossoming and I love to hear the cute things she has to say. I love it when I catch her mispronouncing a word. That's hard to come by these days and I certainly don't correct her when she does it. I just think it's too cute and funny. Maybe that's not the best thing for me to do, but maybe I'm just a little selfish and too easily amused. Maybe?

Rylee is approaching 10 months now, which is also quite unbelievable. She has her two lower middle teeth and the now she's working on the two upper middle teeth. I also think she has a couple other teeth coming in as well. I can see swollen gums everywhere in that precious baby's mouth. She is crawling faster by the second and likes to stand up on her own (without pulling herself up on something). She'll just stand up in the middle of the room, and fall back on her cute little bottom a couple seconds later. Our little Rylee just melts our heart. She always has a big smile on her face for her family, and most of the time for non family members. :) She's starting to eat table food on her own. She likes toast, bananas, cheese, & blueberries (sometimes).

Zack and I have been having many date nights together lately. We truly cherish our alone time together, even though we do tend to miss our babies a little. :) We actually decided we needed to take a break from our date nights/social weekend outings for a weekend or two. Reese was concerned that the nanny, Ms. Jacky, was coming too much.

Well, this will work as a good introductory blog post from an extra long hiatus. :)

Long Overdue Blog Post 4/5/11

I can't even remember the last time I blogged, or even had time to do so. I have one goal in mind this time, and that is to find time to blog. I remember blogging when Reese was little, and now, I'm so very thankful that I did so. Our blog might as well be called her baby book. What a great way to journal and keep those memories!!

For almost eight months now, we've been juggling everyday life with two precious little girls. Each day is so much fun and I'm so very grateful to be able to enjoy every second of every day with my babies. They'll only be little once.

I'll start this blog post recounting the past almost eight months that Rylee has been apart of our lives. This might be a little challenging, since everything starts to run together, but I'm going to try........

I can tell Reese and Rylee are going to have different personalities. Rylee is such a quiet, easy going, peaceful little baby. And,well, Reese has always had a little pep in her step mixed with a dash of stubborness. From the day that Rylee was born, Reese has been in awe of her precious little sister. She would love nothing more than to have little Rylee to take care of all by herself, with mommy nowhere in sight. Reese has struggled with a little jealousy, which was definitely to be expected. Can you blame her? She had her own little world all to herself and then a long comes this little baby who changed everything. Initially Reese took out this new frustration on me. I didn't realize it immediately, but after a couple of weeks of unusual and frustrating weeks, I came to my senses and recognized Reese was taking her jealousy out on me. Once we addressed that issue, we were able to make major progress. We still have jealousy issues to deal with, which I think will get better once I can learn how to share my time more efficiently between them. It's been hard for me, but I'm determined to make it easier for my babies. You'd think after almost eight months, I'd have that figured out by now but not so.

Rylee is getting so big. She has her first bottom tooth and she has mastered rolling; which started in January. She can sit up all by herself once placed on the floor and she gets on those knees often, which I think means she might be crawling in the near future. Rylee is such a super sweet baby that never cries. Even when she used to wake up in the middle of the night for a feeding, she would just make sweet little sounds.

One thing Reese is really great at is making Rylee smile and laugh.
